The Legend FAQ
Everything you need to know about Divvy.Social.
1. Why do I need to provide my ID if I'm just splitting a dinner bill?
Because Divvy.Social facilitates the movement of real money, we must comply with Australian Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) laws. This prevents fraud and ensures the money actually goes to you, and not someone pretending to be you.
2. Do I need an ABN or a registered business?
No. Most of our Legends are just mates looking to get their money back. You can sign up as a Private Individual. Unless you are processing tens of thousands of dollars, an ABN is generally not required for personal cost-recovery.
3. Is this considered taxable income?
In most cases, no. Since you are being reimbursed for an expense you already paid (like a grocery shop or a pub tab), this is "Cost Recovery," not "Income." However, if you are using Divvy.Social to run a commercial side-hustle, you should chat with your accountant.
4. How long does it take to get my money?
Once a "Peep" pays their share, the funds hit your Stripe account instantly. Depending on your bank, it usually takes 1–3 business days to land in your personal bank account. If your bank supports Osko/NPP, it can be even faster.
5. What if a "Peep" disputes a payment?
We provide a transparent breakdown of the Gross-up fees so there are no surprises. If a dispute occurs, you can handle it socially, or we can provide the transaction logs to help clear things up.
6. Is my data safe?
Absolutely. Your financial data is handled by Stripe, a Tier-1 PCI-compliant processor. Divvy.Social and MKAS Group only store the status of your transaction, never your credit card or full identity details.
